This provocative course includes classroom lessons enhanced by practical exercises to train law enforcement, military, demand reduction personnel, corrections, juvenile detention professionals, and others how to identify, expose, interdict, and investigate human trafficking crimes as well as the identification, protection, and rescue of trafficking victims. This course will expose the nexus between human trafficking, gangs, sex workers, drug traffickers and the many types of human trafficking. Students will learn how to identity trafficking in their own jurisdictions.

Psychological manipulation and coercion used by traffickers will be discussed along with methods for combating human trafficking, interviewing trafficking victims, and recognizing the signs, symbols, slang, tattoos and situations/events where trafficking is more prevalent. Students will learn the connection of human trafficking to terrorism, transnational criminal organization, drug cartels, street gangs, and learn various US trafficking routes, online sex trafficking and enticement, and the resources available to assist law enforcement (and other conscientious persons) and victims.
